Plaça Sant Felip Neri, Barcelona

A mere two-minute walk inside the Barri Gòtic from the city's huge cathedral hides a little square - Sant Felip Neri's plaza. Unknown to most locals, and even absent in Google Maps, this square is a true gem in what concerns spanish history.

The tiny square is composed by a church and a fountain. The church's walls are carved with gunshots, horrid souvenirs from a civil war that shot hundreds of brave soldiers against them.

It is also said that, during the same civil war, Franco's airraids arrived at this same church, whose ceiling ended up collapsing, killing 42 people, 20 of which were children, who had ran there, begging for asylum.

This plaça also happens to be the place Antoni Gaudí was heading to on the evening on the 7th of June 1926, right before he was hit by the tram that took his life.

As a sidenote, the plaça became famous when the gothic rock music group Evanescence decided to film their My "Immortal" videoclip over there.
